What the light does in August

Summer mellows: sunrise slides toward 6:00, evenings shorten noticeably by month’s end — and the light turns golden earlier.

Photographer’s notes

Late August is a sweet spot — dawn shoots at a humane 6:00, warm evening light from 19:00, and thinning crowds after the mid-month peak. Wheat-gold sunsets over the river are an August specialty.

Golden hour is roughly the first hour after sunrise and the last before sunset; blue hour — the city-lights-on-deep-blue-sky window — runs about 25–40 minutes after sunset.

Want your photos taken in exactly this light? See photoshoot packages or get in touch — I plan every session around the sun.
