Cherry Blossom Photoshoot in Prague — Season Guide & Booking

prague spring blossom photoshoot 1

For roughly two weeks each spring, Prague turns pink. The cherry trees on Petřín Hill bloom over the city panorama, magnolias open in the palace gardens — and the photographs from those days look like nowhere else and no other time. This page is your guide to catching the window, and to booking a session inside it.

When do the cherry blossoms bloom in Prague?

Typically from mid-April, lasting one to two weeks depending on the weather — a warm spring can pull the bloom into early April, a cold one pushes it toward May. Magnolias usually open first (early April), then the Petřín cherry orchards follow. Because the window moves, flexible booking matters: I track the bloom daily each spring and time sessions to the peak.

The best blossom locations

  • Petřín Hill orchards — the classic: cherry canopies with the whole city below. Best in the first two hours after sunrise, before the crowds climb.
  • Kampa Island’s magnolias — riverside blooms with Charles Bridge behind.
  • Vrtba and the palace gardens — baroque terraces framed in blossom, quieter than the hill.
  • Vyšehrad — blossoms plus rampart views, and a fraction of Petřín’s foot traffic.

Booking a blossom session

April dates go earliest of the whole spring — couples, families and maternity sessions all want the same two weeks. Book a date in the likely window and we adjust by a day or two as the bloom develops; that flexibility is how you get the peak instead of the leftovers.
