2026Prague’s 11 Best Wedding Venues – A Photographer’s 2026 Guide
I have photographed weddings in palace halls, baroque gardens and castle courtyards in and around Prague, and every venue behaves differently in front of a camera. This is my photographer’s guide to eleven of the best: what each one feels like, what the ceremony costs, how many guests fit, and where we take the portraits.
Venue prices at a glance
Ceremony fees as published by the venues for 2026. Receptions, catering and extra rooms are quoted separately everywhere, so treat these as the starting point, and always confirm with the venue before you plan around a number.

The eleven venues

Old Town Hall
The symbol of Prague itself. Marrying in the Old Town Hall means the city’s most famous landmark is your ceremony venue: the ceremony hall upstairs, the Astronomical Clock outside and the whole square waiting for your first steps as a married couple.
Fees: Prague 1 registry office

Stone Bell House
A Gothic tower-house hiding in plain sight on Old Town Square, run by the Prague City Gallery. The concert hall has a piano and real medieval character, and it is available any day by arrangement, which is rare for a city-centre venue.
Fees: Prague City Gallery
Libeň Chateau
An official registry venue inside the city limits, with the calm of a country estate and a pretty chapel used from April to September. It is one of the most affordable beautiful venues in Prague, and a good choice when you want a chateau without transfers.
Fees: Prague 8 municipality
Klementinum Mirror Chapel
One of the most beautiful baroque interiors in Prague, inside the Klementinum complex a short walk from the Charles Bridge. The National Library rents the Mirror Chapel in 30, 60 or 90-minute slots, with a toast included.
Details: National Library, Mirror Chapel

Vrtba Garden
A terraced baroque garden hidden behind a door in the Lesser Town: statues, fountains, curling staircases and a top terrace looking straight at the castle. Ceremonies are held in the sala terrena, and the garden quotes each wedding individually.
Details: Vrtba Garden
Liblice Chateau
A baroque chateau in its own park north of Prague, with a marble hall for indoor ceremonies and a garden for outdoor ones. Ceremony, dinner and rooms are all on one estate, so the day flows without transfers once everyone has arrived.
Fees: Liblice Chateau
Zbiroh Castle
A real castle on a hill west of Prague, where the ceremony, dinner and your guests’ rooms can all be inside the walls. The venue closes the ceremony area to the public and includes a bridal suite for an hour before.
Fees (incl. VAT, 2026–27): Zbiroh price list
Mirror Hall, Alchymist Grand Hotel
A boutique baroque hotel below the castle whose mirror gallery multiplies candlelight into pure glamour. It suits small weddings that want opulence, with the reception and your room under the same roof.
Details: Alchymist Grand Hotel
Kaiserštejn Palace
High ceilings, chandeliers and royal halls on Lesser Town Square: the venue for couples who want their photos to look like a court painting, and for bigger guest lists that the smaller venues cannot hold.
Details: Kaiserštejn Palace

Konopiště Castle
Franz Ferdinand’s former home, surrounded by parkland and a famous rose garden. Indoors and outdoors are equally photogenic, which makes it the safest “whatever the weather” castle near Prague. Ceremonies run in 45-minute slots.
Fees: Konopiště Castle
Karlštejn Castle
The most famous castle silhouette in Bohemia, above a green valley. Ceremonies take place in the Banquet Hall of the Imperial Palace, and photos on the ramparts and in the courtyard are part of the deal.
Fees (2024 price list): Karlštejn Castle
Wedding day photo ideas in Prague
Whichever venue you choose, the best portraits usually happen in the half hour after the ceremony, a few minutes’ walk away. Three that work beautifully, from real weddings.
A grand staircase
Oya and Arda married at a registry office and then walked to the National Museum, whose marble staircase and glass roof look like a palace built for this. Access to interiors needs arranging in advance; I can advise on what is possible on your date.

The Charles Bridge right after the ceremony
From the Old Town Hall, Klementinum or Kaiserštejn, the bridge is a short walk. Inbal and Alex walked straight there after signing: the castle across the river, the statues and the first quiet minutes as a married couple.

A sunrise session before the day
Many couples marrying in a castle outside Prague add a short sunrise session in the city on another day: the Charles Bridge and Old Town Square empty, in the dress and suit, without watching the clock. See the pre-wedding photoshoot page.

Choosing between city and castle
| City palace or garden | Countryside castle | |
|---|---|---|
| Guests | Walkable, hotels everywhere, Prague as the after-party | A destination event, often with rooms at the castle |
| Photography | City landmarks woven into the story | One grand location explored deeply, no crowds |
| Logistics | Everything within a taxi ride | Transfers needed, then everything in one place |
| Costs | Ceremony fees from free to about 10 000 CZK | About 7 000–22 000 CZK for the ceremony alone |
| Best for | Intimate weddings, elopements, short planning | Full wedding weekends and fairy-tale scale |
What a photographer adds to your venue choice
Venues look different through a lens than on a viewing tour. Before you sign, I am happy to tell you honestly how a space photographs: where the light falls at your ceremony hour, which halls flatter and which fight the camera, and where the ten golden portrait minutes hide at each location. On the day itself my work is documentary: good light and composition, but above all the real, unrepeated moments between the people who love you.
Questions about Prague wedding venues
How much does a wedding ceremony in Prague cost?
For a couple from abroad, the legal fee is 5 000 CZK, or 3 000 CZK if one of you lives in the Czech Republic, plus 3 000 CZK for a ceremony outside official hours or rooms. Venue fees then range from nothing at the Old Town Hall to around 22 000 CZK at a castle, before any reception.
Can foreigners get married at the Old Town Hall?
Yes. The ceremony is held by the Prague 1 registry office, which also explains the documents you need. There is no hall rental fee, only the legal fee.
Which venues are best for a small wedding or elopement?
The Old Town Hall, Stone Bell House, Libeň Chateau and the Alchymist mirror hall all suit small groups. Vrtba Garden works beautifully for a small ceremony too, even though it can host far more.
Which castle is closest to Prague?
Karlštejn and Liblice are both about 40 minutes away; Konopiště and Zbiroh are around 50. Libeň Chateau is inside the city, if you want the chateau feeling without leaving Prague.
Do you photograph at all of these venues?
Yes, and at many others in and around Prague. Tell me your venue and date and I will tell you how it photographs and what the best portrait spots nearby are.
