Prague Maternity Photoshoot Guide: Best Locations, Timing & Tips

prague family maternity photography 4

A maternity session in Prague is a beautiful collision of two timelines: a city that has stood for a thousand years, and a moment in your life that lasts a few precious weeks. Here is everything I tell expecting parents who want to capture it — timing, locations chosen for comfort as much as beauty, and what actually makes these photos feel like you.

When to schedule: the 28–34 week window

The sweet spot for most maternity sessions is between weeks 28 and 34 — the bump is beautifully visible, and walking a gentle route is still comfortable. If you’re expecting twins or measuring ahead, aim earlier. Booking three or four weeks in advance gives us flexibility to move for weather.

Locations chosen for comfort

My maternity routes are deliberately short and flat, with benches and cafés along the way:

  • Kampa Island — riverside, flat, romantic, with the Charles Bridge as a backdrop and no hills to climb.
  • Wallenstein Garden — manicured baroque calm, free entry, peacocks included; shaded on hot days.
  • Letná orchards — panoramic city views a short level walk from parking, glorious at golden hour.
  • Your hotel or apartment — window-light photos in a robe or knit dress are intimate, restful and increasingly my clients’ favorites.

What to wear

Fitted is better than flowing — dresses that follow the bump celebrate it, while loose fabric hides it. Ribbed knit dresses, wrap dresses and long slit skirts all photograph beautifully. Solid colors in cream, sage, terracotta or navy work with Prague’s tones. Barefoot-friendly locations exist if that’s your style; ask me.

Making it about both of you

Partners often arrive convinced they are “just there to hold the bag.” They leave with their favorite photos of the session — the forehead kiss, the hands stacked on the bump, the quiet laugh between poses. These sessions are about the family beginning, not just the belly.

Practical notes

  • Sessions run 60–90 minutes with sitting breaks built in.
  • Morning light is coolest and kindest in summer.
  • Bring water and a small snack; growing a human is work.
  • If you feel unwell on the day, we reschedule — no fees, no stress.

See maternity session prices or read the FAQ, and let’s plan a calm, beautiful morning for the three of you — counting the bump.
