Prague Photo Festival

Every year in April, Prague comes alive with photography. The eighth edition of the Prague Photo Festival will take place at Kafka’s House from April 21st to 26th, featuring the participation of 30 exhibiting entities.

As part of the festival, a wide array of individual photographers, galleries, and photography-focused companies will be showcased, presenting the original works of nearly 190 photographers, both contemporary and classic. Some of the collections of authorial photographs will be presented by institutions like Artinbox Gallery, Archiv BaM Chochola, Thalia Picta, Art Residence Zahradnik, Galerie Gambit, Galerie Millennium, IndigoSpace, and more. The form of pop-up presentations by individual photographers is gaining popularity, and this year, artists like Magdalena Blahová, Robert Carrithers, Tomáš Paulus, Antonio Cossa, among others, will take part.

Traditionally, PRAGUE PHOTO includes an extensive section showcasing the work of the youngest generation of photographers – students and recent graduates from seven specialized schools (Slezská univerzita Opava, Západočeská univerzita Plzeň, Univerzita J. E. Purkyně Ústí nad Labem, škola střední a vyšší odborné školy Michael, and Orange Factory, Vysoká škola umění Bratislava).

Daily workshops, screenings, and live presentations within the exhibitions bring added vibrancy to the event.

In addition to the foundational Czech authors, this year’s festival includes photographers from Poland, Russia, Slovakia, and the USA. It also marks the first-time participation of the Italian publishing house Image in Progress.

Unique collections, previously unseen in Prague, will be presented, including works by Dita Pepe, Tereza z Davle, Robert Carrithers, and others.

Since the inception of the festival, the Young Prague Photo Award has been awarded annually to a young photographer under 35 years of age, as recommended by an expert committee. Thanks to this recognition, past laureates have seen a significant increase in interest in their work, leading to exciting opportunities abroad.

PRAGUE PHOTO is held under the auspices of Mrs. Adriana Krnáčová, the Mayor of Prague, and with the support of Mr. Oldřich Lomecký, the Mayor of Prague 1, as well as the City of Prague and Prague 1 Municipal District.
