Question 1 of 6

When are you coming to Prague?

The month decides almost everything: what time the sun sets, whether the gardens are open, and how many people share the view with you.
Question 2 of 6

What should the moment feel like?

There is no wrong answer here. Pick the one that sounds most like the two of you.
Question 3 of 6

How private should it be?

This is the question most couples underestimate. Prague is beautiful and it is busy, and the two rarely happen in the same place at the same hour.
Question 4 of 6

What time of day suits you?

If you are not sure, choose the last option and I will pick the best light for your month.
Question 5 of 6

Who else will be there?

This changes where we can hide, and how much room we need afterwards.
Question 6 of 6

And after the yes?

Almost nobody wants to walk away thirty seconds later. This decides how long we book.
How it works

From your plan to the actual morning

The planner gives you a starting point. Everything after that is a conversation, and I answer every message myself.

1

Your plan reaches me in one click

At the end of the result there is a short form with your plan already filled in. Add your name, email and dates, press send. If something in the plan does not feel right, say so; it is a suggestion, not a prescription.

2

We fix the details

Exact meeting point, the signal you will give me, what happens if it rains, where your family hides. I have done this hundreds of times and the details are where it is won.

3

You propose, I disappear

I arrive early and blend in. You will not see me until you look up. A short preview reaches you the same evening.

Timing

Sunrise and sunset in Prague, month by month

Approximate times for the middle of each month. Golden hour is roughly the last forty minutes before sunset, blue hour the twenty to forty minutes after it.

Month Sunrise Sunset What it means for a proposal
January 07:53 16:22 Blue hour arrives before dinner. Frost and empty bridges, if you can handle the cold.
February 07:14 17:15 Still quiet, still cheap to fly, and the light lasts a little longer each week.
March 06:16 18:07 The city wakes up. Gardens start reopening at the end of the month.
April 06:07 20:03 Blossom on Petrin and Kampa. My personal favourite fortnight of the year.
May 05:15 20:49 Everything is green and everything is open. Also the first properly busy month.
June 04:49 21:14 Sunrise is brutally early but the bridge is completely yours at five in the morning.
July 05:08 21:04 Warm evenings, long light, peak crowds. Sunrise is the honest answer here.
August 05:54 20:16 Still busy, but golden hour returns to a civilised time.
September 06:44 19:13 Arguably the best month overall. Warm, golden, and the summer crowds thin out.
October 07:34 18:12 Autumn colour in the parks and vineyards. Sunset lands at a comfortable hour.
November 07:26 16:20 Grey and moody, and almost nobody around. Markets open at the end of the month.
December 07:58 15:59 Dark by four, which sounds bad and looks magnificent. Markets, lights, sometimes snow.

Questions couples ask me

Before you book anything

How far in advance should I book?
For May to October and the whole of December, six to eight weeks is comfortable and three months is safer. In January, February and March I can often still take a booking a week ahead. If your dates are already fixed, message me even if it feels last minute, because cancellations happen.
How do you stay hidden?
I dress like a tourist, carry one camera and no tripod, and I am in position twenty minutes before you arrive. We agree on a route you will walk and a small signal, usually you putting a hand in a pocket or stopping at a specific bench. Your partner sees a stranger photographing the view. Nobody has ever spotted me in advance.
What if it rains?
Prague rain is usually a passing shower rather than a day of it, so the first move is to shift the time by an hour. If that is not possible we go to an arcade, a covered passage or a garden pavilion I keep in reserve for exactly this. Wet cobblestones reflect the street lamps, which is why some of my favourite proposal photos happened on miserable evenings.
Do I need a permit?
Not for a normal proposal in a public street or park. Some gardens and interiors charge a fee or ask for permission in advance, and drones are effectively not allowed over the historic centre. If your plan needs a permit I will tell you before you pay for anything.
Can you help with flowers, a violinist or a ring box shot?
Yes. Flowers can be waiting at the spot, a violinist can start playing as you turn the corner, and a detail shot of the ring is part of every session. Tell me what you have in mind and I will tell you honestly whether it will add to the moment or complicate it.
When do we get the photos?
A small preview reaches you the same evening, usually within a few hours, because most couples want to send something to their families that night. The full edited gallery follows within the agreed delivery time, and there is an express option if you need everything within twenty four hours.
We are two men. Two women. Is that a problem?
Not remotely, and Prague is an easy city for it. I have photographed many same sex proposals here and the planner works exactly the same for you.
What if she says no?
It has never happened in front of my camera. If it did, I would put the camera down, walk away and delete everything. You would not be charged for the session.
