Prague The Vrtbovska (Vrtba) Garden is a unique landscape architectural gem, openned to visit for visitors. It’s one of four Baroque gardens in Prague (Lobkowicka, Vratislavska and Schoenberska). Together with three other Baroque gardens (Vratislav, Schönborn and Lobkowicz), the Vrtba Garden is situated on the slope of Petřín Hill and is one of the most precious and beautiful of Prague’s Baroque gardens.

The creation of this magnificent palace garden is associated with the construction boom around 1720.

History of Vrtbovska Garden

The Vrtbovska Garden was originally built in the late 17th century for Jan Josef, Count of Vrtba, as part of his palace. The garden was designed by František Maxmilian Kaňka, a prominent Baroque architect, and garden designer. The garden was later expanded and renovated in the 18th century by František Antonín Špork, another well-known Baroque architect.

• Upper Terrace – The upper terrace is the highest point in the garden and offers stunning views of the city. It is the most ornamental of the three terraces and features a Baroque pavilion, an intricate wrought-iron gate, and a variety of sculptures and fountains.

Vrtba is one of the private Baroque garden in Prague. It will be open April 2023. It’s open from morning 10am to till 17.00pm.
