2026What to Wear for Your Prague Photoshoot: A Season-by-Season Guide
You booked the photoshoot, you picked the location — and now the wardrobe panic begins. After years of photographing couples and families against Prague’s ochre facades and grey cobblestones, I have strong opinions about what photographs beautifully here. Here is the advice I send every client before their session.
The one rule that matters: coordinate, don’t match
Identical outfits look dated; complementary tones look intentional. Pick two or three colors that live in the same family — cream, camel and rust, or navy, dusty blue and grey — and let each person wear a different piece of that palette. Prague’s architecture is warm-toned, so earthy colors, deep greens and blues sit beautifully against it.
What to avoid
- Neon and very bright colors — they reflect onto skin and fight the city’s palette.
- Large logos and text — your eyes go to the words, not the faces.
- Tiny tight patterns (thin stripes, small checks) — they shimmer oddly on camera.
- Brand-new shoes — Prague’s cobblestones will test them; comfort wins.
Spring (April–June)
Light dresses, linen shirts, soft pastels. The gardens are in bloom, so let them carry the color and keep clothing gentle. Bring a light jacket — mornings stay cool into May.
Summer (July–August)
Flowing fabrics move beautifully in photos and survive the heat. For sunrise sessions bring a layer; for daytime, choose breathable natural fabrics and avoid pure white, which can blow out in harsh sunlight.
Autumn (September–October)
The easiest season to dress for: rust, mustard, burgundy and camel echo the falling leaves. Long coats photograph wonderfully in motion on bridges and park paths.
Winter (November–February)
Embrace the coats — a well-cut wool coat is a better photo garment than anything underneath it. Add texture: scarves, knit hats, leather gloves. Dark green, deep red and charcoal glow against snow and Christmas lights.
A note for families
Dress the children first, comfortably — a cold or itchy child ends a session faster than rain. Then build the adults’ outfits around theirs. Bring one spare top per child; experienced parents know why.
